2012 IMPORTANT & USEFUL INFORMATION
DOGS & THE TURKEY TROT:
We ask you to leave canine family members at home this year :-(. The number of people trotting has grown over the years, and crowded places are often quite stressful for many dogs. We saw a couple of situations last year that could have turned ugly. The Turkey Trot days will be over if someone sues us over a dog bite, or their dog being injured by someone else's pet. We have enjoyed having pets come with their families for many years and are sorry for this necessary change. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
RESERVING T-SHIRTS:
Please remember that in order for us to hold reserved shirts, we need to have your donation in hand by Sunday, Nov. 18th. After that, they will be put back in the mix of shirts available Thanksgiving morning. You have the option of bringing your donation during our early t-shirt pick up times this weekend (see below for more info.) It really is our intention to get a PayPal sort of thing up and running for next year to make the whole sending donation thing way simpler.
You may wonder, "Why the cut off?" 1) Sending in your donation before Thanksgiving is the "price you pay" to be at the front of the line, so to speak, to get a t-shirt. Since we always run out of shirts, it's not fair to the people who come on Thanksgiving morning to have less of a chance of getting a shirt than someone who registered, but didn't get his/her money in. 2) Life gets crazy the 4-5 days before the Trot and we have to shift our attention to the logistics of the day. We just can't be doing "accounting" during that time. Hope this makes sense to you.
ADVANCE T-SHIRT PICK UP:
T-shirts can be picked up on Saturday Nov. 17th & Sunday, Nov.18th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at 70 Blossom Road in Windham. If you are registering late, you can bring your donation when you come to pick up your shirts.
T-SHIRT PICK UP THANKSGIVING MORNING: PLEASE PICK UP YOUR SHIRTS NO LATER THAN 9:45 am. After that we will be distributing remaining shirts to people who didn't get one, but had donated the amount needed. Last year we had a number of shirts that were never picked up by pre-registered trotters. We're trying to adjust by trying this new approach. If it doesn't work, we'll try something else for 2013. :-)
